Sara Hudson is a writer and digital communications expert and strategist. She has over fifteen years experience in crisis response, civic technology, effective digital communications, and user-centered design and project implementation. She has worked in city and federal government (the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the Department of Justice, the City of New Orleans Information Technology and Innovation) and led digital communications at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She is a Public Interest Technology Fellow at New America.
A trained emergency manager, she created and led New Orleans disaster communications during hurricanes, flooding, and public safety events. She is the creator of NOLA Ready, the first centralized hub for New Orleanians to prepare for, get information about, and stay safe during disasters.
Sara did her undergraduate degree in Latino/a Studies and History of the Book at Duke University and her PhD in American Studies at Yale.
